A Mother’s love continues by establishing a scholarship
Kansas City, Mo. – On April 23, 2012, Ashton O’Guinn became Kansas City’s 32nd homicide. Today, his mother, Dewanna O’Guinn still mourns the loss of her son but she is determined to keep his memory alive, “He was a great kid, my oldest of three children, a college student, a loving kid with a big heart and smile. We all still miss him.”
To honor his life, O’Guinn launched the Ashton L. O’Guinn Scholarship Fund, “Part of the fund’s mission is to assist our youth in their pursuit of a college degree. The scholarship is funded by donations and our signature event, AO’s Exclusive Red & White Affair, “Through this annual event we celebrate the precious gift of life, inspire peace and unity to a community plagued with violence; as well as, present four outstanding students with scholarship awards.”
